Goodbye and Good Riddance

Last Tuesday I had my two bottom wisdom teeth pulled. After years of ignoring Canadian dentists advice about getting them taken out I finally realized they had to go. They'd been bothering me on and off and so I am now two teeth poorer. The experience was painful but I kept trying to reassure myself that if I could give birth surely I could withstand this pain! Unfortunately all I had to show for after my trip to the dentist was two ugly molars, sore swollen cheeks and the inability to eat solids. I preferred labour because at the end of that I got my beautiful baby boy!
So now the pain is lessened but I'm still sore and swollen. I sure miss eating normal food too - there are only so many foods you can puree or mash. Yesterday I had cornmeal for breakfast, then refried beans, cooked plantians and mashed potatoes for lunch and supper. So it could be worse.
The day after the dentist called to see how I was doing!?! Can you imagine that happening in North America? He also gives out his personal cell phone # - crazy eh.

Ouch. Did you at leat get a pain killer. If that picture was to show you looking all swollen it's not working, you still look pretty good :). I agree with you, labour would probably be my pick also. Take care and hope you feel better soon.

I lived off of tomato soup and pilsbury biscuits for over a week. I had my teeth (three of them) taken out two days before christmas and my cheeks and jaw got infected. It was the worst pain of my life. (Although I've never given birth) Plus no christmas food or left overs. But Adam came to visit me so things got a lot better. You do look beautiful for having teeth pulled. Heal well. :)

Thanks for the compliments and well-wishes Marta and Petra! And Petra your woeful tale put mine in perspective, what torture to not be able to eat Xmas Dinner! I'm going for a check-up on Tues. so really hope all's healing well; an infection would be terrible. And if you can survive that, birthing a child will be a breeze:)

Ouch! I got my wisdom teeth taken out while I was working at camp, mom brought me and when I got in the car she said "Your mouth smells like dead fish" 2 days later Dean asked me out. 2 days after that we had our first kiss. All I could think of was does my mouth still smell like dead fish? He never said anything.... What a sweet man.

Wow, look at all the stories! I got all four out and thought I looked like Minnie driver with the swollen jaw
