Musings

We've been back in Canada for over a month now. It feels strange and normal both at the same time. I think I have some culture shock going on, but it's nothing a little food therapy won't cure - chicken and vegetable pot stickers, cranberry juice, and chocolate fudge crackle icecream to name a few of my faves :) (haha).

Whenever I overhear strangers in stores speaking Spanish I want so badly to say something to them, but I always chicken out! I better get up the nerve before I lose all of my espaƱol! Luckily there are some friends back in Guatemala that I have to email in Spanish.

We had an amazing time in BC. I was pleased to be reminded of how utterly breath-taking it is there; the mountains, the lakes, the rivers - it's all still as wild as ever. (Although there is talk of Wal-Mart coming to Smithers, perish the thought!) The two weddings were wonderful celebrations and my kids basked in the attention of the many aunties, uncles, grandmas, grandpa, and cousins we got to spend time with.

Now this week we move into our own place, and I am VERY ready for that. There's nothing like living out of a suitcase for a month - as gracious as all of our hosts have been. I am also looking forward to my sister Jess coming to live with us at the end of the month.

It is nice to get in your own space especially with little kids. I hope you have a good move with your stuff. How exciting to have your sister live with you. My youngest sister lived with us for 3 years when the kids were young. I was really good.
